Minister of Business, Dominic Gaskin, during a walk-about in the Stabroek market this afternoon, met with stall-holders in order to hear firsthand some of the concerns of businesses operating within the market.
Some of the problems identified by stall-holders included:
- Frequent flooding during high-tide
- Poor sanitation and wash room facilities
- Poor maintenance of the market and its surroundings
- Poor security within and around the market
- State of the wharf area
According to Minister Gaskin, “ walkabouts such as these provide an opportunity for face-to face contact with business owners and operators at the site of their businesses so as to get a direct feel of how the various problems actually impact on their livelihoods.”
