As we welcome the new year, the Ministry of Business takes this opportunity to thank the business community for their continued contribution towards the development of the Guyana Economy and to wish all businesses a productive and prosperous 2016.
2015 has had its share of challenges for business in Guyana. The prorogation of parliament, delayed national budget and resulted in a slowdown of the economy activities. But the new year brings about an anticipation of a more beneficial time to come.
The task before us is clear. We must remain steadfast in our commitment to put the nation on a path that ensures rapid, inclusive and sustainable development. The Ministry of Business assures all that we will work to encourage a more productive, competitive and robust economy.
The year 2016 will see the Ministry of Business making greater strides towards national development in Guyana as the Ministry seeks to improve the ease of doing business as measured by the World Bank Doing Business Index; boost value added exports by assisting manufacturers to become more export ready; increase the number of small businesses accessing services and credit through the Small Business Bureau; the reform of GO-INVEST; and increase the transparency of regulatory policies.
Let us work together towards the development, expansion and re-invigoration of business in 2016.
